Re: Racing delay...?  (United States)

Water should start going down by Wednesday next week and the first race is scheduled for April 19th (per recent club meeting)  A lot will depend on  how the drivers stand holds up after the water goes down.

Due to the near record flooding we are currently re-assessing the 2008 season start. The good news is the river has crested and and the driver's stand, lights, and area all look in tact. We will have more information available next week once the water goes down and we can assess the flood impact.

At this point all we can say is the 2008 season will be pushed back, and we do not yet have an official date for opening day. We will try to announce one as soon as we can assess the damage and situtaion down at the track. But, we are confident we will have the facility up and running again soon.

Hopefully we will not have tons of damage when the water goes down. We removed everything possible in time so hopefully we will be left with some major cleanup and light repair work. The money and hard work of building the stand to survive a 100 year flood seems to have definitely paid-off at this point.

We will be needing all the help we can get to cleanup, repair, and get the facility back in operation quickly.

Please stay tuned to the website for information on when and what kind of help we need. We will have more information available soon.

You can view some photos of the flooded stand and track by Clicking Here.

Re: Racing delay...?  (United States)

So by reading other posts Im hearing that the racing is not going to happen on Tuesdays, and only on Saturday nights. If this is true i hate to say it but it doesn't seem like I'll be racing this season guys. I've got other plans for saturday nights. (sorry  but I pit a dirt latemodel). i guess i'll still try to make it down to help with the clean up, and i'll prob be down on somedays to practice during the week if i get a day off of work. Thanks guys for keeping me updated and sorry i couldn't make it down to the meetings but school and work are number 1 right now. any other racetracks in the STL area on the MO side?

It was a long and painful dicussion that essentially boils down to one thing. The decision was made to try and provide one quality day of racing per week instead of two sub-par experiences as they seem to have turned in to.

That being said, the true determination of Tuesday racing's fate is rebuliding the club racing program to a be stable, fun, consistent, and safe environment. We must promote a friendly, helpful, and club environment to attract and sustain new racers, which we are hoping Satrudays will allow us to do .

So, we will for the time being only be hosting 'racing' events on Saturdays. We will however be looking at offering some type of test-n-tune, practice, or other member only events on a weeknight as well once attendace, help, and organization offer.

I am dissapointed you will not be unable to make Saturdays. I hope you will still try to make it if you get a chance. And, as I've said just because we are not racing on Tuesday's to start, there is a possibility of it or other events soon in 2008.
