Jeremy Esparza Memorial Race  (United States)

Just wanted to give a shout out to the boys at Dirt Burners. Steve & I as I am sure many others watched the weather on this one. It is a shame that the weather turned cold like it did. It started out as a 58 & sunny day at the first of the week and well…… it went down hill from there. We like a few others wanted to race outside real bad and see some of you that we haven’t seen in a while.  Even for as cold as it was we are glad we made the trip!! I am sure it was a tough decision to keep this race as scheduled with the low turnout but for the ones that traveled it was very much appreciated, although I think we would have had just as much fun if it turned out to be a club race. The layout was simply awesome, very fun track to drive. The Dirt Burners club has always been a class act and is one that we will look up to in the future.

Thanks for the good time! :)

Scott

Re: Jeremy Esparza Memorial Race  (United States)

Yea, what Scott said. Thanks to you all.

The couple times I`ve been their have been great, we appreciate your hospitality. The weather while on the stand was some of the most brutal I`ve experienced, but I do believe I`d do it again :)))

AWESOME layout. Thanks again and we`ll be back soon I`m sure.

Steve

5th Annual Jeremy Esparza Memorial Race - 04/07/2007

Our first race every season is the Jeremy Esparza Memorial Race which brings a large turnout to remember Jeremy. We Continue to remember a special kid, club member, and racer by having an annual race dedicated to his memory.Jeremy will always be a member of the club. He was a person many people looked forward to seeing at the track and his personality was always refreshing during a sometimes hectic race day. We will always remember.

The St. Louis Dirt Burners would like to thank the following people for helpingus get everything ready for the season and this race:

  • The Esparza family
  • Panther Products, Inc.
  • City of Kirkwood
  • Chris Conwell
  • Aaron Pucci
  • The Poeling's
  • Dan Walter
  • Tim Eberhardt
  • Colton Kiefer
  • Ernie Speer
  • Mark Locheed
  • Gary Roland
  • All others who helped us!
The 2007 racing season could not have began without the help of many people whohelped doing everything from moving dirt to picking up trash and rocks. Thanks toeveryone who helped and contributed to a great opening day.

Special thanks to all who came out and braved the cold to race with us and honorJeremy. The race was a great way to honor Jeremy and we hope all that attended emjoyedthe racing and facility. The cold weather kept the turnout lower than expected. But, the track and layout seemed to be an overwhelming success and provided somegreat racing in all classes.

We would like to thank the Esparza family again and the St. Louis Dirt Burners willbe donating half of all proceeds from the race to M.A.D.D. in honor of Jeremy. Wehope to bring awareness to prevent this from happening again and we hope everyonewho attended will say a prayer for the Esparza family.

The cold weather did not hamper what turned out to be a great day of racing andremembering for everyone. After a very cold morning of practice and sign-ups, racingbegan just before noon. About halfway through the first round the sun came out andthe wind seemed to calm down. It was still cold, but it was not near as bad as itwas earlier. Three rounds of qualifying went very smooth and the qualifying actionwas tight and some good drivers fought through the cold trying to improve theirtime.

The mains ran very smoothly and provided some very close and entertaining racing. Many of the mains ended with the top two to three drivers all within seconds oreven tenths of each other as the clock was winding down. The fight for positionson the track went down the wire and many missed a bump-up or win by only a secondor two.

Re: Jeremy Esparza Memorial Race  (United States)

Thanks to all of you guys for coming. Glad you enjoyed it and still think it was worth it after freezing. Appreciate the comments and it could not have happened without all the people who helped in getting everything ready or the people who attended.

Thanks to you all.
