2008 Season Start - Flood Impact  (United States)
Modified By Trace McRae on 6/5/2008 11:20:42 PM)

2008 Season Start - Flood Impact Update (03-22-2008)

Due to the near record flooding we are currently re-assessing the 2008 season start. The good news is the river has crested and and the driver's stand, lights, and area all look in tact. We will have more information available next week once the water goes down and we can assess the flood impact.

At this point all we can say is the 2008 season will be pushed back, and we do not yet have an official date for opening day. We will try to announce one as soon as we can assess the damage and situtaion down at the track. But, we are confident we will have the facility up and running again soon.

Hopefully we will not have tons of damage when the water goes down. We removed everything possible in time so hopefully we will be left with some major cleanup and light repair work. The money and hard work of building the stand to survive a 100 year flood seems to have definitely paid-off at this point.

We will be needing all the help we can get to cleanup, repair, and get the facility back in operation quickly.

Please stay tuned to the website for information on when and what kind of help we need. We will have more information available soon.

2008 Season Start - Flood Impact Update (03-24-2008)

Due to the near record flooding we are currently re-assessing the 2008 season start. The good news is the river has crested and and the driver's stand, lights, and area all look in tact. We were able to get in to the track area Monday evening and the good news is there wasn’t any damage spotted at this point other than lots of clean-up work. We will have more information available next week once the water goes down and we can assess the flood impact.

Re: 2008 Season Start - Update (03-28-08)  (United States)

Sorry for the short notice, we had to confirm it was safe and obtain permission to be in the area before knowing if/when we could bring people in to the facility.

We will be working at the track this Saturday, 03-29-08. We will be starting about 9:00am and we will be looking for help to clean-up and get things back in order.

Items we will be working on include:

  • Opening electrical panels and cleaning then re-installing buss/breakers
  • Reinstalling timing booth windows and doors
  • Reinstalling fence and making repairs
  • Cleaning-up and removing debris from track, parking lot, and driver's stand

If you can make it down to help we will need shovels, rakes, hand tools, wheelbarrows, trash bags, hoses, and anything else you think may be handy.

As of right now the plan is to get as much of the clean-up and stuff put back together we can tomorrow and then next weeked we will begin track rebuild and construction. We will need help Saturday 04-05-08 and Sunday 04-06-08, so anyone who can help please come down. We will have more specifics on next weekend after we assess this weekends progress.

Re: 2008 Season Start - Update (04-03-08)  (United States)

Due to the rain and river rising again we have decided to cancel the track rebuild this weekend. As long as the weather and river cooperates we will begin track rebuild next weekend. We will need help Saturday 04-12-08 and Sunday 04-13-08, so anyone who can help please come down. We will have more specifics on next weekend after we assess the weather and conditions next week.

We will be spending some time down there this weekend as well as through the week getting the rest of the power and fence re-installed. Please contact Trent Kirk at (314) 221-0760 if you are wanting to help and wondering when/where we can use some help.

(04-10-2008) As of right now we do not have a date for the Jeremy race. We will announce a date as soon as possible, but with all the rain and flooding this year, we might look at moving the race to later in the year. Please check back for more information on Jeremy's race.

Please contact Trent Kirk at (314) 221-0760 if you are wanting to help and wondering when/where we can use some help.
