ABOUT THE TRACK

St. Louis Dirt BurnersFor over 20 years now, St. Louis Dirt Burners' track has been located in Kirkwood, Missouri's Greentree Park. Founded back in 1994 by a group of St. Louis racers looking for some place to race they reached an agreement for their proposal with the City of Kirkwood. Several months later with little money and lots of time they built a nice facility which served well for over a decade allowing the public to use the facility, hosting weekly Club Racing events, and hosting many large racing events bringing people to Kirkwood from all over the world.St. Louis Dirt Burners

After so many years of use, the facility and stand were needing to be updated. While working out all the details with the City of Kirkwood Parks and Recreation department about many new regulations and laws the club would be required to follow. It looked like being in a park and publicly accessible when rebuilding would be difficult financially and physically. The requirement of building the stand to be ADA compliant required getting it drawn and certified by an architect to make it strong enough to withstand the floods that happen with the track right next to the river. This made the cost seem unobtainable and the required skills and work that were needed to get the job done out of reach.

Kirkwood, MOAfter much discussion and deliberation by club officials it was decided the club needed to be in the park and available to the public as this was the best thing for the club and R/C racing in St. Louis. With lots of time, money, and materials, the vast majority of it donated by club members and companies who sponsored with materials, the new drivers stand and facility started to take shape.  If it wasn't for everyone that donated time and/or materials to this project the track and facility would not exist.

And today, over another decade later, the track is still going strong after many floods and other issues that have presented challenges along the way. These challenges were always met by our club members and sponsors who were always willing to help.

Thanks to everyone who has helped us along the way!
